The Fort St. John Curling Club Board and Staff would like to thank all of it's dedicated members for being so patient and supportive in the last few months. We would not have gotten through it without all of you!
It seems like 2020 has been one roadblock after another, and with the most recent incident threatening to end our 74th season all together. But with the help of our membership and the City of Fort St. John, we are going to have a season after all. On Monday October 26, 2020, City Council approved the funding for the replacement of our failed chiller unit. It has since been ordered and we are on schedule to resume league play for Monday, January 4, 2020. To the majority that have already paid membership and league fees, we are offering partial and full refunds. Jeff Holland has been making phone calls to speak to members about this but has not been able to get in touch with everyone thus far. If you have yet to receive a phone call regarding this, you can reach Jeff at the Curling Club office phone (250-785-2037) or email him at JHolland.FSJCC@gmail.com.
In other news, we have rebranded the Lounge in order to breathe some life back into it. The Lounge, now called "Sweeps" will be hosting the Fort St. John Billiards Club, as well as be open to the community for socialization and games! Open to Club Members and Non-Members alike (fees for non-members will be mandatory), we hope to turn the Fort St. John Curling Club into a place for the community to come together and once again become the vibrant place it used to be. Minors are now welcome with the accompaniment of an adult. To stay connected with what's going on at Sweeps Lounge, please follow "Sweeps" on facebook.
With the upcoming holidays, the Fort St. John Curling Club Hall is the perfect location for any event! Please contact our Executive Director, Emily Furlot for more information and bookings.
We look forward to seeing you all for curling in January, and we hope you come say hello to our staff, and enjoy some time with friends at Sweeps in the meantime!
